Brass Band
The Ocean Avenue Stompers Brass Band is our New Orleans meets New Jersey-inspired mobile band — built to bring joy, energy, and spontaneity to any moment. Whether we’re parading through the street, surprising guests on a lawn, uplifting a celebration of life, or anchoring a high-energy cocktail hour, the brass band turns heads and creates connections.
A Brief History
The Stompers Brass Band began as a way to bring joyful noise to local events — from second lining Santa into the Asbury Park tree lighting to playing the Asbury Park Beer Fest in Convention Hall. In 2020, with most venues shut down, the band took to the streets of Asbury Park, Red Bank, and surrounding neighborhoods, giving folks live music when they needed it most.
Since then, the group has become a fixture across the region. As of 2025, we’ve had the honor of performing for five consecutive years at the Sea.Hear.Now Festival in Asbury Park — the only local band invited to parade through the festival grounds both Saturday and Sunday each year. We’ve also played Manayunk’s Sing Us Home Fest, Ardmore’s Rock N Ride, and dozens of weddings, parades, private events, and community celebrations throughout the Northeast.

What to Expect
We typically perform with six pieces: trumpet, trombone, tenor sax, sousaphone, snare drum, and bass drum. From there, the group can scale up to 12 or more players, adding extra horns, banjo, melodica, percussion, and even vocals depending on what the moment calls for.
The band features a unique blend of professional musicians from the NYC and Philly scenes alongside full-time working players from right here in New Jersey, many of whom are rooted near the Jersey Shore. This mix of talent and personality gives the band its own sound and spirit, grounded with utmost respect for New Orleans Brass Band tradition, but always shaped by the room we're in.
The group is fully mobile and often acoustic, which means we can perform anywhere without a stage or sound system — though we’re happy to provide amplification when needed. The setlist includes over 100 songs: New Orleans classics, Jersey Shore sing-alongs, second line staples, soul and funk favorites, and a few offbeat surprises.

You’ll find us playing between headliners at festivals, parading through crowds, welcoming guests at outdoor events, leading wedding second lines, or popping up in unexpected places to elevate the vibe. Perhaps you saw us with Eric Andre on an episode of Impractical Jokers?! What a blast.
Note: For smaller events or stationary setups, we can adapt the band to use a drum kit instead of marching drums. This allows us to scale the group down to five musicians, though it takes away the mobile element that makes the brass band what it is.
If you’re looking to expand the sound into a full-stage experience, we can build from the brass band into our House Band or Wedding Band by adding a rhythm section and vocals.
Other Lineups
Seen us at R Bar on a Monday night? That’s our House Band with rhythm section and vocals. Caught us at a wedding or private event with a full band or live DJ? We offer a few other lineups depending on the vibe.
